My journal for Visual Literacy has been a process that involved collecting photos that were visually intriguing to me and then sorting them out to have a theme. It was an interesting step process where I thumbed through all of the photos I have even taken and pulling out my strongest ones. The end result leaded to my attraction to landscapes and cityscapes of the places I have traveled. Below is a brief story of my travels to Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Utah, New York, Colorado and Florida.
East Side to the West Side tells a story of my life journey and how it has brought me to many different places. I am so fortunate to have a big family that continues to grow each day. I have had the most wonderful traveling experiences to visit them no matter how far away they live. Most of my travels have taken me back and forth from the east and west coast of the United States, as well as from Europe back to the US. Born and raised in Orlando FL, I began traveling on my own in 2008 after I graduated from high school. I moved to Miami in 2008 where I fell in love with the clear blue beaches that are much different from the beaches I grew up with in central Florida. Also in 2008, my mom moved to a small town in Utah where I have spent most of my summer days riding horses, shooting guns, and off roading the book cliffs. In 2011, I moved to New York for the summer where I ended up staying for a year. My time in New York was the most inspiring time of my life and was the year I learned a lot about what truly makes me happy. My older sister recently moved to Aspen where we take our annual skiing trips, maybe hit Vegas and swing by Utah to visit Mama D. In 2012, I moved back to Florida where I met my lover for life, Christopher. Chris is from Germany and he is the world’s best tour guide when it comes to traveling Europe. Chris and I try to take summer trips each year to visit his family back in Germany. I never thought I would be in Tampa finishing school but there is a reason life landed me here. I love a good journey and I’m enjoying making my life one.
